Non-Traditional Turkey Burgers

Image

I’ve never made turkey burgers any differently than adding some hamburger seasoning, lighting up the grill, and calling it a night!

Tonight, I decided to try something differently, and there were mixed reviews.  I thought they had more flavor than the regular way we cook them, but my husband thought they tasted the same.  I modified the original recipe using reviews from other people, and I really think that helped.  I also had some of my own recommendations that I added to the end of the recipe.  It is portioned out for 2 people, so feel free to double it up for more!  Bon Appetit!

Ingredients:

1/2 Pound Ground Turkey

2 Teaspoons Bread Crumbs

2 Teaspoons Diced Onion

1/2 Egg Whites from (1) Egg

2 Teaspoons Parsley

1 Teaspoon Finely Chopped Garlic

1/4 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes

1/4 Teaspoon Salt

1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper

4 Splashes Worcester Sauce

2 Splashes Soy Sauce

Cheese (Optional)

Pretzel Rolls

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, seasoned bread crumbs, onion, egg whites, parsley, garlic, salt, and pepper. Form into 2  patties.
  1. Cook the patties in a medium skillet over medium heat, turning once, to an internal temperature of 180 degrees F (85 degrees C)
  2. Warm Up the pretzel rolls and top with the turkey burger

Notes:

What I loved about these was the onion and garlic mix inside….yum!  I think I will do burgers this way every time.

The other thing I loved was the pretzel roll…genius.  It added some salt and buttery taste, which brought out the flavor in the turkey burger.

I think that they could have had more flavor so maybe I would add onion powder, garlic salt, and/or hamburger seasoning.

Keep an eye on it…I didn’t have a meat thermometer, but the best way to make sure you don’t over or under cook is to check the temp!

Chef Rating: B+

Because these tasted the same, I wouldn’t rank these in the A range, since it was more time consuming than just shaking some seasoning on it.  I wouldn’t rank it any lower than this because it was still flavorful and tasty.
